Little Lulu Sun Dress & Hat

Description

This sweet little warm weather baby dress is begun with its lace scoop-necked bodice, which is knit in two pieces and seamed, and then the skirt is picked up and knit from the waist down in the round with increases for a little flounce, ending in a rick-rack edging. The sunhat mimics the stitch patterns in the dress to make a cute little outfit for a sunny day. Charts and written instructions included for each part.

Chest: 16.5 (18, 18.5, 19.25, 20, 20.75)” [42 (45.5, 47, 49, 51, 52.5) cm]
Hat: 14.5 (16)” [37 (40.5) cm] circumference



Materials

• DK/ light worsted weight yarn, approx 300 (400, 450, 500, 550, 700) yds [274.5 (366, 411.5, 457, 503, 640) m]
• US size 6 [4 mm] 16” & 24” circular needles or size needed to achieve gauge
• US size 6 [4 mm] dpn set of five
• US size G-6 [4 mm] crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Stitch holders (2)
• Yarn needle



Gauge

22 sts & 32 rows = 4” [10 cm] in St st after blocking

Construction

Dainty lace bodice is knit in 2 pieces and assembled before knitting the skirt from the waist down. Hat is knit top-down and both hat and skirt are edged with knitted RickRack stitch. Neckline and armhole edge are finished with single crochet.
