Description

This basic tam o’ shanter is knit in the round, flocked with purl rounds and was inspired by the big floppy tam worn by Mary Lennox in my favorite movie of The Secret Garden.

Finished Measurements

Tam: 20 (24)” [51 (61) cm] circumference at rib.

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn, approx 200 yds [183 m]
• US size 7 [4.5 mm] 16” & 24” circular needles
• US size 7 [4.5 mm] dpn set
• Stitch marker
• Darning needle

Gauge

20 sts & 24 rows = 4”[10 cm] in St st after blocking

Knitting in the round, increases, decreases

Yarn Used: Cascade 220 (100% wool), color gray #9460.

Construction

Knit from the brim to the crown in the round.
