Description

Mince is a beanie-style cap that features three different areas of textured stitches bordered by a repeat of a twisted-stitch cable panel. The traditional style mimics Aran sweaters and lends warmth with its chunky feel. For a deeper hat, add more rib rows.

Materials

• Worsted weight yarn, approx 120 - 160 yds [109.5 - 146.5 meters]
• US size 9 [5.5 mm] 16” circular needle or size needed to achieve gauge
• US size 9 [5.5 mm] dpn set of five (or second circular needle of this size)
• Stitch marker
• Cable needle
• Yarn needle



Gauge

16 sts & 23.5 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in Chart A pattern, after blocking, slightly stretched

Knitting in the round, cables, increases, decreases


Plymouth Homestead, color Dusty Blue (deep brim/pages 4 and 7); Malabrigo Worsted, color Polar Morn (regular brim/page one)



Construction

Knit from the brim to the crown in the round in one piece. Four different sections and three different stitch patterns are separated by a simple twist-stitch cable.
