Description

As with all Guernsey (Gansey) garments, these Gansey Two Socks are covered with nautical symbols that keep you interested. You'll see flags, anchors, ropes, and waves as you knit them into these cozy socks made with sport-weight yarn. Work them with contrasting cuffs, heels, and toes or in all one color. Either way, you'll have fun with this top-down sock project.



Finished Measurements

8.5” [21.5 cm] foot circumference; 10 (11)” [25.5 (28 cm)] foot length; 7” [18 cm] cuff length



Materials

• Sport weight yarn, approx 400 yds [366 m]
• US size 3 [3.25 mm] 16” circular needles (2) or size needed to achieve gauge
• Small cable needle (optional)
• Stitch marker
• Yarn needle



Gauge

26 sts & 38 rnds = 4” [10 cm] in St st after blocking



Skills Used

Knitting on two circulars in the round, round heel, grafted toe, picking up stitches, increases, decreases


Yarn used: Thirteen Mile Lamb & Wool Co 2-ply in oatmeal and light grey



Construction

Knit top-down with slip-stitch heel flap, short-row heel turn, gusset, and wedge toe.
